In 1996 the Summerville Area was hit by two floods.  During the July 19th flood several people were trapped by the fast raising waters.  Several area citizens came to our aid with their boats.  Initially small boats that were easy to launch and maneuver were used.  Later in the flood, larger, higher horsepower boats were needed.  When the association decided to purchase a boat, what kind of vehicle could fit both these areas?  A used Scat Hovercraft was located on the internet, and was put into service in the Spring of 2000.
